Fred. Doing the job is MUCH more important. Should I terminate my consultancy with them and pick it up as a service provider doing samples and bidding to do the work.

This is a big conflict of interest and seldom works. It is difficult to be both a consultant and a contractor. You can try but it doesnt look good for you as a consultant if your going to bid on the job.   Just my opinion

I have been consulting for about a year for builder on a really big job, the owners of a resort have not been successful in keeping the white sandstone clean and it needs a deep cleaning and a seal.  I submitted sealing samples which were approved and going to do a sample unit very soon.

My question is, when do I switch my involvement from “consultant” to “service provider”  I want to make sure I protect my intellectual property, without which I am sure they will not be successful in achieving their goals, but that does not mean someone might try to bring in someone to try, to save some money. The cleaning chemical and sealer I plan to use, nobody has ever even heard of here in Australia, nor  have had experience in using. So I would be the only qualified to use cleaner and sealer. They have mentioned me getting MSDS and PDS’s to the opposing consultant for review. Not sure how to protect myself. There is a WHOLE lot more money in the service rather than in the consulting, and I really need the work.

Thoughts?   Thanks!
