I have run into this problem before and the builder actually pulled out the stained limestone and just replaced it. So I took a sample and the brown stains were all the way through the Limestone. It seemed as if moisture at some point reacted with certain minerals in the stone to create that brown stain. Anyway I soaked the whole piece in hydrogen peroxide for a whole week before the stain finally disappeared. I don't know if its cost effective to poultice the surface for that long, might be worth a try. I was able to completely submerge the whole piece. If the staining is all the way through, the results from poulticing the surface may be limited.
Thanks.

We just tried using plain DE to remove water stains from granite and it actually worked. No harm in trying. I've tried it before and there's probably a 25% chance of it working.Did any one test. The floor tp

Check for moisture levels in the stone, remove the sealers that are on the stone, then if the stains are still there try a poultice using peroxide.
Check to see if there I anything usually in that area of the floor.

The floor is on a cement slab, kitchen Dining room, entry and small bathroom. There is about 600 sf. It has been checked for moisture. There wasn't any. The homeowner said the discoloration started a few months after it was installed. The sealer supposedly has silicone in it. He did say it was sealed at different times in different sections. Any where from 3 days to 2 weeks. It was raining at the time of installation.

My client has a Limestone floor that was installed about a year ago. Some of the stones are turning dark, others are not. In some areas al the Limestone is turning dark. The homeowner used Miracle Sealants 2 part poultice. It required 5 applications and scrubbing to lighten the stones. Honing did not lighten the stones. The Limestone was sealed with 511 Porous Plus after it was installed. There is a moisture barrier and the thinset used was white. We are trying to figure out a way to clean and lighten the stone to its original color. Miracle Sealants 2 part liquid poultice is very harsh and melts both blue and vinyl tape. Any ideas would be appreciated.
