We use different methods of masking-we like the ez mask products and trimco alot. Depending on the job and the residence or commercial location we are working in dictates what we use. We have used the sheets of pink insulation from home depot . We cut them in half and tape them to the walls. Our madison, park and fifth ave clients love them. We use tyvex paper as well-can use it over and over again.
We try not to tape painted or stained surfaces that are exposed to water.
My favorite type of masking is none at all.

I cut old election signs into 24x36 sections and tape 4 together with gorilla tape. Just place 2 or 3 in each section and move them while rinsing. When I use plastic it's the 48 with no tape. I open it up on the wall after stretched out and cut to length and then pull it down to the bottom (slowly) and use half of the stucco duck tape to tape to the floor, not to the wall.

we have found that even the blue tape (faux finish blue tape) removes the paint sometimes, so we always tell the customer that there may be some paint peeling.

i would also add that the blue tape on the roll will remove paint, so we first put the faux finish blue tape, then the plastic  with the tape, then cover that with duct tape or stucco tape..

Hi Carl. I have bought pre-taped plastic rolls at T. Frank McCalls in Chester before, which I think is not far from where you are. I don't know what their price for it is. You might want to check them out.
