Cleaning lady drug a chair
(metal) over the floor, scratched all the way across the room. Then they called a service company who
tried to remove the scratches with honing powder. The owner wants to keep the
same finish , they have the same tile and finish in all the bathrooms. I know
what a honed and polished finish is and this tile has a finish I’ve never
seen before. I’ve tried every grit , honing powder & brush I have
with no success. I’ve taken a sample to several shops, no one has seen a
finish like it before on Marble. The installer is long gone and the decorator is
no help. Derek at Rockland Stone got me thinking about brushes more ……
The more I look at the finish it could be a 100 grit or so to open up the stone
and then brushed to remove the scratch pattern.
Does anyone know where I
can purchase carbide brushes to fit an angle grinder?
Thanks Derek and Rod for
your help, I greatly appreciate it.

Subject: RE: [sccpartners] Marble Finish
I am confused why you are trying to achieve an etch
finish??? I am not sure I even know what
that is.Marble either has a honed finish or a polished finish period that's
it.No coating should be put on marble at all no crystalizer no wax no acrylic
nothing. If you are after a honed finish which would be matte with
no clarity or very little and then color enhance to get some color to the
stone. If the floor is flat you could achieve this very quickly with some
diamond abrasives,if the floor is not flat it would have to be ground flat
first with metals otherwise all your frames will be shiny still. If you can get us some pics that would help alot,
