As soon as its Shiny, you have
to go topical.
There are many , here is two
one is called SSA from Lithofin,
another could be Laquer From Stone tech.
The trick to get an even finish
is to seal it using a cheap impregnator first.
Benefits
1-
You get a more
uniform shiny finish in 2 coats
2-
When the topical
does wear, you do have a base coat protecting it s well
It’s much like using a
primer when you paint, costs less in finishing paints and does a better
covering job.

Subject: [sccpartners] Finish for Exterior Sandstone
I have a customer who has about 1000 square
feet of sandstone in a flagstone design, on a
cement slab and with mortar joints. The
installation is outside on a covered patio. The
residence in located in New Mexico along
the Rio Grande river and the water table is
about 8 – 10 feet. The owner want a
finish on the sandstone and she’s being very specific
about what she wants. I not aware of any
products that would meet her expectations, so
I thought I would ask for recommendations.
Here’s what she wants:
1.)
The stone darkened “wet
look”
2.)
The stone sealed
3.)
A shinny finish
All of the products that I’m aware of
are topical and will not allow vapor transmissions.
I see problems with applying anything other
than a penetrating sealer or enhancer.
Any recommendations would be greatly
appreciated, work is scarce here and I want to
explore every possible job.
Thanks,
Joe Walters
