klhudson: No I did not start at 220. This was only supposed to be a polishing job only, not restoration. I only used diamonds in a couple spots, and was going to blend. Maybe this is my mistake. I don't understand why just applying MB-22 to a factory finish with no blemishes, dulls that finish. Makes it impossible to blend a repair.

Did you use diamonds or impregnating pads? To remove bad etching you start with 220 diamonds. The way you describe the issue it sounds like you used pads not diamonds and they live kind of textured finish. so I will suggest to stick to diamonds and it will see a big difference

Good evening partners. Repairing an etched white marble island today (attached). 800, 1500, 3000 then MB-22 polish. Not even close to the factory finish. And the area that overlapped onto the factory finish had dulled it.

Kind of lost here. Just did a vanity last week using same method that turned out fantastic.

Upon closer inspection, while the factory finish appears flat as glass, the polished area seems microscopically pitted. Not like an orange peel... much smaller. I don't know if this is the cause of the lack of clarity.
