Yikes-I really hate that rsr stuff and only use it to test for rust.
Try using 40% hp/or bleach in a poultice to remove the purple stuff. 
Iron out works well on rust stains-should work on a stain produced from outside of the stone.
open up the stone with 80 grit sandpaper before applying the chems.
