Joe,

What I would recommend is a product called StoneLoc. This product will do everything you want, it will darken the stone, seal the stone and make it shinny. This product is available from  Richard James Specialty Chemicals

www.rjsconline.com   phone number 914-7-478-7500.  This product allows the stone to breath.

Subject: [sccpartners] Finish for Exterior Sandstone

I have a customer who has about 1000 square feet of sandstone in a flagstone design, on a

cement slab and with mortar joints. The installation is outside on a covered patio. The

residence in located in New Mexico along the Rio Grande river and the water table is

about 8 – 10 feet. The owner want a finish on the sandstone and she’s being very specific

about what she wants. I not aware of any products that would meet her expectations, so

I thought I would ask for recommendations.

 Here’s what she wants:

1.)    The stone darkened “wet look”

2.)    The stone sealed

3.)    A shinny finish

All of the products that I’m aware of are topical and will not allow vapor transmissions.

I see problems with applying anything other than a penetrating sealer or enhancer.

Any recommendations would be greatly  appreciated, work is scarce here and I want to

explore every possible job.

Thanks,
