Freddie,
It looks like honey onyx-use some 220(or 120 if needed) grit silicon carbide to remove the deep scratches(onyx is soft)
and then bring it up with resins(start 220g) diamonds to 800 or higher. Use 5X or MB22(works great on onyx). The MB-22 is easy to use on the onyx-splatters wont cause etching.
What do mean by the edges?

 I have to hone and polish a top that is on a private jet. The customer what's the best highest gloss possible. It has scratches all over, the fight attendant use it as a cutting board. The owner says it's a limestone but it looks like onyx to me. If it is onyx I am going to hone from 120 to 3500 and 5x it. Does any one have a different opinion?
