Hi Kevin. We have also done our share of concrete polishing over the years. For staining and sealing I have been using the Ameripolish Sure-lock system pretty successfully. There are a number of systems out there, but I like Ameripolish because you can buy the materials is relatively small quantities, they deliver quickley and the support and video references are pretty good. Also the densifier and stain applications arw combined (if you are not going to stain, you can just use the density at the staining stages).  I buy my materials from DCP supplies. A really good set of videos are DCP's supplemental training videos on YouTube. Here is part one:

These are great references. DCP has some other reference videos as well. Ameripolish also has some videos worth watching, but there is not much narration.  I have found that the non-electric pump up sprayers get pretty clogged up with the dyes, so for small jobs we usually use hand pump sprayers. (Skip) the guy in the video) is pretty responsive if you have specific questions. My biggest difficulty is getting hand polished edges to match the rest of the areas. Ameripolish sells edge dyes for non-polished edges and their website shows what the contrast would look like. I typically try to sell my jobs on the basis of not polishing the edges, but if there is a lot of black mastic or similar to remove, you probably will need to hand polish. Just show the client what it will look like.

Kevin you need to do a mock up demo especially if you are going to stain the floor. Most customers look at a magazine or store and believe they're concrete will come out the same.  I have polished concrete from 2003 and this has happened many times.  Also mock up can give you an idea of what cost you are looking at

Kevin,

If your like me, a smaller company, every job is important. I will usually charge $7.00 a square foot for polish and add a $1.00 per square foot if they want color. The edge work is usually done by hand, a minimum of 2 passes, 100-400 grit to blend with the rest of the floor. Corners we bring all the way to polish by hand. The big machines usually get about an inch from the walls on a straight line. The sealing of the floor will tie it all together. The larger jobs we price lower per square the smaller higher. Price also varies with how busy we are. If your busy, charge more. If your slow,  drop price and get to work. Good luck.

Partners,
I have been asked to polish 450 sq ft of concrete in a customer basement. The concrete has been down since October of 2012. I am looking for advise from those of you who have expertise in this area. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
