Jason,

I am very familar with this type of stone since I grew up in  the NJ NY area and am currently living in NY.   Bluestone is a type  of sandstone, which means it is sedimentary and contains quartz. The problem with taking a diamond to it is it is very abrasive( the stone itself is abrasive) and you will go through a lot of diamonds. Secondly, most bluestone has a natural cleft face and honing it will make it smooth.  So to answer your question, yes diamonds can be used but you willl go through a lot of them.

Dr. Fred, Mr Freitag, and other gurus,

So I have my first request to grind out lippage on a bluestone floor. This is a popular stone up in these parts of NY and PA. I even have a large walkway at my place of it. From what I know it has similar characteristics of limestone. What I do not know is can diamonds be used? For the most part the stone is flat but is has a rough texture. Anyone done this? Anything I should know?

Much appreciated,

Jason
