Yes we do as well-but we still use honing powders, spinflex  and vortex pads.
A pinch of 5X does give it a nice touch.
Sea Glass-has a nice ring to it. We call ours Sheeny not too shiny.

I tend to use coated pads more than honing powder, but one technique that gives a really nice finish in certain cases is to mix in a little 5x. Say 400 honing powder with a touch of 5x. It sort of amps up the gloss while maintaining a satin finish.  I call it sea glass.

i almost always use hogs hair for Honing powders. but another way to achieve the same thing is
to use the lowest grit twister or monkey pads they seem to work good for most honing situations
they also are much less messy to clean up after
(hey dana at least i can admit monkey pads are good for honing)

My first choice is hog hair due to the durability. However, I do use white if their is considerable lippage due to flexibility.

Hi Partners,
I would like to get some opinions on what you guys think. What kind of 17" pads do you like to use when honing floors with honing powders? Which 17" pads work best for you white, hog hair, extreme hog hair or others?
