Hey Tony
Sounds like one of those dark ring type stains- 30/40 % volume hydrogen peroxide like Adam said is a pretty reliable poultice.
It needs to kept on overnight then take off plastic and wait until medium(powder ,flour,DE or whatever) is completely dry.
In most cases a second application is needed. We teach our customers how to poultice-most will give it a shot others wont.
Im much happier when they do it-stains are never predictable.
I have good results with bleach and paper towels. I fold the paper towels up like 8-10 ply and place them over the stain then pour on some bleach-just enough to wet the towels.
I let it sit on there for 2 hours and up. Usually while we are working and keep checking. Sometimes great results other times I consider it a good prep for something stronger.
Mineral spirits and other solvents work well also.

On marble I used hydrogen peroxide.  Granite shouldn't be any different.
