Mike,

Regarding the your problem with the ink on the marble, the following is the process I would use to remove the ink stain.

1)      Purchase a paint stripper from a Hardware store, Home Depot ,   Lowes , etc. Strip X , Jasco are common stripper you can usually by at these Stores.

2)      Purchase DE Powder (  Diatomaceous Earth Powder )  from a swimming pool supply store or can sometimes be purchase from Home Depot , or Lowes in their pool supply department.

3)      Wet the area of the stone where the ink stain is .

4)      Mix the DE powder and the Stripper into a liquid state the consistency of a pan cake batter apply this mixture to the stone.

5)      Cover the area with plastic and tape the plastic down to the floor.

6)      Place small hole into the plastic to allow the mixture to dry out, this will pull the stain from within the stone into the powder mixture.

7)      Allow this to stay on the stone for 24 to 36 hours , the goal is for the mixture to dry and pull the stain.

8)      After the 24 to 36 hours remove the poultice and using a putty knife.

9)      If stain is not totally remove and has lighten re apply poultice.

10)   If the is a high honed finish stone you may need to open up the stone with a 120 grit diamond to allow the poultice to penetrate the stone. ( do this only if after several attempt to remove the stain does not work.)

CAUTION   When using the paint stripper these products produce a chemical burn on your skin, use the proper safety protection, Rubber Gloves, Safety Glasses.

Be sure to tell your customer  keep their pets and children  away from this poultice.

Subject: [sccpartners] ink stain

My son decided it would be a good idea to draw something on a friends honed marble floor, magic marker which he thought was erasable ink. I have only made one attempt, lacquer thinner and paper towel poultice. Not much difference. I am still trying to source materials here in Australia, not easy. Help me out here Fred! Is a jar of commercially available poultice any better than a home remedy. What should I try next. I think I could get DE easy enough.
