Roger,
The problem you are seeing is that the stone has a vein of iron
running thru it. This is true in many stones. What is happening is the
combination of the following elements have caused this proble.
1.
Iron deposit within the stone
2.
Moisture in the stone
3.
Oxygen
4.
Equals rust
There is no real way to stop or totally remove it. You could
temporary remove from the surface with poultices cleaning etc. this is only
temporary and I would not recommend it. Tell you customer what caused the
problem and it will either remain the same or get worse and more likely get
worse.
Dr. Fred and I had a job we were involved with in Orlando where
the granite started to rust and the entire floor had to be replaced. Once the
rusting starts there no stopping it.
