Steve,
Onyx is treated like marble.
It is very soft and will flatten quickly.
However every job has its own set of issues ,
What type of grout has been used, will you be able to keep your grinding elements under the machine.how bad is the lippage?
You may need to grout the floor before grinding.
Are there loose tile issues and or missing grout,
Professional installation or a homeowner special.

Hello Gang -- I have an onyx floor job and there is some severe issues. Wondering if anyone knew how difficult it is to grind down bad lippage on this stuff. Is it more like marble or granite or somewhere between? Thanks in advance for any insight. steve k

To everyone,
We are doing a restoration job for an entire apartment in Manhattan and they have a onyx vanity and sink in one of the bathroom which have become dull and needs some facelift .
They were originally polished, but across time and use they have lost their
sheen. I have no experience with onyx. Does it polish like marble? Is it
hard like granite? I haven't the slightest idea. Any experience out
there polishing this stone?
