Steve,
Black marbles take a little practice when using 5x.
You must keep the slurry thicker to reduce splatters.
You must also use a solution of ammonia to neutralize.
Do a section and pull the slurry down to the next section.
Clean the completed section and neutralize .
After you have finished the surface you can go back over it with a lighter mix of 5x which will clean up and take out any teardrops etches you have on the surface.
