Tony,

I have not seen etching on engineered stone. The engineered stones are quartz crystal held together with resins. It sound more like a haze on the material. if the installer used acetone on the walls to clean the surface where it was seemed together this could be the problem. The acetone or some other chemical attacked the resin in the materials.

I do not recommend honing these materials. Some of the materials have a web like finish and if you put diamonds on the surface you may not match the finish.

I have on many occasion use crystallizer and steel wool on engineered stone to remove the haze look from these materials. Try this in and areas I think it will correct your problem.

If you need to use diamonds call me I will walk you through the process.

Caution, most engineered stone have a warrantee on them and if anyone other than the authorized factory rep does any repair it will void the warrantee.

Light etching on stone. How would you remove it?
