Tony,

What you may have is stun damage in the stone where the crystals in the materials are crushed and it looks like a scratch but is not.

Depending upon the death of the damage you may never remove it totally.

If you decide to grind the stone go aggressive with a 50 metal diamond , the 100 metal go back to the 50 resins until you achieve the finish you need.

Keep in mind that if you grind aggressively you are going to need to feather out each cut approximately  3 inches out on each side of the pervious cut. This will keep the floor from showing a dip or wave in the materials.

Subject: Scratches on travertine

Hi, I have a Chiseled Travertine floor with a 60 ft long scratch. A refrigerator was dragged across the floor. I honed it with 120 resin pad and it did not make a difference. You cannot feel the scratch. I did not want to go down to 50 because you could see the difference in the sun reflection. Any ideas would help. Thanks Tony
