yes this condition is known as hysteresis.  We talk about this in my stone inspector and troubleshooting class.
a residual or permanent volumne change in stone after the temperature has been normalized, generally causing the stone panel to bow.

I did find evidence of moisture on the inside of the building as efflorescence was building up on the inside walls.
