Thanks Fred-That's the only thing we could figure-I wondered if it may also be a separation of oil in old color containers.

I have seen this before and it all has to do with absorbency of the stone. Apparently the blue celeste is more absorbant

There were many mosaics done-all with same material.
Most didn't stain-but several along the edges of the joints stained.
A 2 part 100% solid epoxy was used.
It only stained the blue celeste nothing else.
Thoughts?
