if it was my job I would probably try to crystallize it to give it that plastic look

Subject: Re: Tumbled travertine scratch repair

Stuart,

It is chiseld edge, but it has that smooth, slightly reflective, plastic look to the tile surface. Again, I'm not concerned about removing the scratches, but I am concerned that the final finish won't look like the other tiles simply because I've not repaired this type of travertine before.

I'm going to use hand tool and diamond resins to remove the scratches, followed by dips to restore the finish.

That's just a chiseled edge travertine-it isn't brushed.
Its in a kitchen right?
You can use vortex pads on it-easy breezy.Vortex has pads from 120/220 and up.
Some of the deeper scratches you may need to address by diamonds but there is a chance the vortex black or red dot pad will get them.
Look like chair scratches.
The poly -pro plus pads are very good as well but they don't have the lower grits like vortex.
We do these type of floors all the time.

I'm looking for some guidance on returning the factory finish to what I refer to as tumbled travertine. After the scratch repair would be completed, what's your best recommendation on mimicking the original finish that is smooth with a plastic - like appearance. Picture attached...
