Fred, do tell!!!!  There is such a need for something more simplified at a lower price point, even if performance is not as good. I am Surprised nobody has filled this gap to date. When will it be available? I have a large job, they are very interested but no way they are going to pay the price for a polyester coating.

There is a new product coming out that does not require uv curing or sanding and it is inexpensive compared to other products. It is crystal clear and can be used outdoors as well. Will keep everyone posted

I have used both products-vitremela is a UV cured product. It was hard to work with.
We haven't been able to do a live job with it. Plus the equipment was expensive.
Clear stone is a resin based product that is finished mechanically to a honed or polished finish.
We are currently using this product-we do from 1-3 jobs a month.
It is the only product so far that can give a glass like reflection in a polished finish.
On prior jobs we have gone back to refinish the surface and charge just as if we were finishing their marble.
There is equipment to buy and quite a bit to learn regarding installation
Looks good honed also. It is also quite repairable.
Its under warranty for staining and etching for 10 years.
It will delaminate long before it stains or etches.
It isn't warrantied for scratching and it will scratch.
Folks don't seem to mind the scratching however.
It is a good sell to restaurants, bars, hotels, country clubs-etc.
Its seems to be good for very high end consumers. who aren't concerned about pricing issues.
If $80.00 a sq ft doesn't give them a heart attack or they throw you out the door a potential sale is possible.
Most consumers just cant afford it so you have to know where to market it.
If you market and sell it responsibly you can do ok with it.
We have been working with it for about 2 years now-like everything it has its pros and cons.
Another product that isn't for everyone- on the contractor side as well as the consumer side.
All the tooling and abrasives are compatible with corian jobs as well.
So now we are refinishing corian countertops which is easy and  profitable.

For countertops?  There is Clearseal and Vitramela. There is a guy here that has an epoxy, it is new, very much like Clearseal, but there are no fumes, Clearseal is a polyester resin.

I have been wondering if there is a solution somewhere short of these 1-2mm thick coatings that need to be sanded and polished and are very expensive for the customer. Like a high tech abrasion resistant strippable (or not) urethane.  I have a message into Katrine at RJSC and wondering if they have a solution with some of their newer products, like Stonehardener 2 perhaps.

I know this is not ideal, but a lot of people don’t want to pay the $400m2 to do the thick coatings and there should be an alternative.

There is also a film that is applied like a window tint, easy to replace on an annual basis.

I know this has been discussed before. Who is using any type of protectants for marble that prevents etching?
