I see a lot of this with white marble in wet areas- more common for small rust marks around a vanity, shower saddle or the toilet.
Every once in a while I see a major rust issue within a shower stall area.
Have seen 1920 era white marble installations without a trace of oxidation.
Have seen 6 month old installations loaded with oxidation issues.
I agree with Randy-and it happens enough that the industry is aware of it so consumers should be forewarned.
Wouldn't hurt for the consumer to be educated. Easy enough to google info for potential stone they are looking at.
