If they won't follow your procedures it's time to replace them. It set an example for the rest of your employees.

Relatively new guy been with us for about 6 months. Gave him the task of sanding and polishing the front area of a vanity.
On all vanity refinishing jobs the fixture area is mask off and protected from polish splash and blended back into that area.
What did this guy do? Well he didn't mask the fixture area and splashed the hell out of them and the marble all around them leaving etch marks everywhere. When I arrived at the jobsite to check on him I ask him why he didn't follow procedure of how he was taught to do it. I was told that "I was making a big deal out of this and my way was far too time-consuming " He wound up spending about a 1/2 hour getting the etch marks out of the marble and cleaning the polish out of all the little grooves in the faucet handles instead of taking 2 minutes to mask off the area
Got to love them employees
