yelp contacted me by email and sent me a chart showing my status with yelp and another chart with a so called competitor that has supposedly increased they're income by $55000 in the last 6 months by advertising with yelp. The girl also said that this company has not been in business for that long. so I called her to find out more. as she was giving me her sales pitch I asked her a simple question of how long has the other company been in business. (this is because I know the majority of my competitors) she told me she was not allowed to give me that information. I told her that I felt she was full of crap because I was not asking her who the other company was I was only asking her the amount of time they have been in business. then I proceeded to tell her any body can send me a chart saying that a competitor is doing that kind of business from using Yelp but until I had better information from her I was not going to advertise with yelp. That is when I posted the question to everybody from STP.
if I had all the money I was promised I would make from advertising with all these people I would be a millionaire, then again if I had all the money that I wasted advertising with some of these people I would also be a millionaire. the best bang for the buck that I have used  in the last seversl years is STP and Angie's List.

Hi everyone

Just FYI. Yelp is becoming more and more important for Internet marketing and we will be posting some info soon. Yelp now provides the local listing results for Bing / Yahoo and even Siri (Iphone) queries. It seems that they are all ganging up to overpower Google. By the way, AOL search will no longer be powered by Google but by Bing. This is big news.

We'll keep you posted.

We did a 3 month deal with Yelp, they were pushing for 1 year.   I wouldn’t do it again.

If you’re in the food business (restaurants, fast food) I think it works.  Not for our Niche industry though.

We looked into it. The thing that really turned me off were the horror stories about negative ratings from crack pots that you can't get rid of. There have been lawsuits related to this. Worth checking those stories out.

Yelp and Angie's List are modern day yellow pages. I have built my company on referral marketing. You can't really sell that.
