I agree. Concrete stains are typically water based and cannot be spot applied (at least I have never heard of it). To deepen the intensity of staining, I use ameripolish stains, which are concentrated, and, instead mixing with water, I mix with acetone, which gets more of the pigment into the surface. Typically stain once after 200 grit honing, but can stain again after 400 grit for or more intensity. If you buy ameripolish stains from DCP supply, they can better advise you. Skip, at DCP, is really knowledgeable.
