You should only need to be concerned while sanding. Polish should not affect the granite

Hey guys need help desperately
I'm polishing this white Carrera marble and have this 2×2 black granite in laid I have tried tape the squares whit red tape and impossible get good polishing on marble trying to go around, best advice to do right?
