Normally I do first cleaning stripping,  and check for oil spills before start sanding I started 120 sand paper 240 400 and 400 resins wet then make sure is complete dry and I use a good color enhancer up to 2 times let it dry completely Pryor to apli your sealer also for soapstone I normally use 511 impregnated when you use mineral oil you have to do it 2 times a year.
