Yes-I see them under rugs from time to time.
In this case I think it is from the black rubber backing-seems the black dye leaches out (ever use a sharpy to color a chip and realize it has a purple tone to it) and looks purple.
The 40 peroxide will work but it takes repeated applications-we sand the surface to open it up.
Methylene chloride may work as well-removes those plumbers primer stains quickly,but I think it may remove the purple color residue you have as well.

Ahh the old plumber didn't own drop cloths , sounds like PVC primer
Seen this many times, try treating just the spot with methylene chloride,on microfiber
Then poultice and cover overnight ,use DE in your poultice, might take two or three try's 
But it will become satisfactorily removed

Has anyone had any experience with purple staining on carrerra. It was found under a rubber mat in a bathroom. I removed most of it using 40% peroxide but there is still a faint bit of it here and there. Suggestions? Recommendations?
