Yes I have seen it, the acid was very aggressive, while acid usually does not etch granite some acids will especially if it full strength. I ve seen this when toilet bowl cleaner get left on the granite countertop too long. What is happening the acid is attacking what calcium that is in the stone. you will need to hone, repolish and seal.

Has anyone every seen granite do this?  Customer spilled rust remover on granite countertop. And if so what was the remedy?
