That looks like a portoro-we have a good amount here in the metro area-I found this cool article about it-don't let that intimidate you.
MB-22 also works on the portoro-then crystallize.

"The color is deep black and bright with golden veins. Geologically this is a limestone era liassic carbonate veins with a limonite formed in a marine environment , poorly oxygenated and rich in organic matter. The black color is due precisely to the abundance of organic matter while the golden streaks to the partial dolomitization of organic matter that has oxidized. In addition to color, even the microcrystalline structure due to the processes dinamometamorfici contributes to the quality of this marble . "

If I remember correctly we bring the hone up as high as 3000 to 11,000 grit, By hone I mean your main work with traditional diamond disks up to 400 grit then switch to the synthetic diamond encrusted pads at 400 and then work up to as high as 11,000 grit monkey pad switch to the use a granite powder with tin oxide, (stone has a lower calcium level) clean well and if needed lightly crystallize. Good luck

Looking for recommendations and restoring a marble vanity top. Please see attached picture. From what I understand, it is one tough to impossible stone
to service to factory. Would appreciate any recommendations.

Sincerely,
