If there is a wax or topical finish on the floor, then the "stain" is on the wax. Use a stripper or alkaline cleaner to remove the wax.

Hi Partners,

CONSUMER QUESTION:

Removing a stain from a vinyl (laminate) tile floor.

Consumer writes:

We put down a rubber kid's mat on the floor that has stained the tile yellow.

( I think there might be a wax on the floor that the cleaners used before we moved in - FYI.)

The stain is approximately 4 ft x 4 ft. I tried detergent and water as well as mop and glo but neither has removed the stain.

I saw on youtube that a poultice can be used to remove tough stains.

Would you recommend using a poultice of hydrogen peroxide and flour or maybe just soft scrub with bleach. The area does get a lot of sunlight so maybe it will go away on its own.
Any advice you could give me would be very much appreciated!

Please let me know if you have any suggestions for this consumer.

Thanks much,

Doug
