While that could be possible based on the character or composition of the stone-I think it may be a light scratch from the metal piece on the leg of the furniture.
Its worth a test-
Sanding it out would with flat abrasives would be tough. I would start with a 120 grit diamond brush and then adjust based on the results.
Write a protective contract limiting liability.
