Yeah-I understand
just for kicks-try using a nice poly blend(custom building prod) linen unsanded grout mixed 100% with any brand latex(we use super latex from latticrete) get a sample piece of travertine hone, clean and then fill all the holes on the backside of the stone.
Overfill them but keep the patches smooth-let it cure over night-then cut off the fill using a 220 resin diamond wet.
You should end up with a nice smooth filled finish.
Its a pretty good technique for filing large areas-if you keep that tile check it in about a month.
You wont believe how strong the fills will become-try and remove one

Mainly complaints about it being powdery and coming out. No matter how we mixed it and again according to VMC directions just to many complaints. WE have had only one redo on one hole at a job since using Tenax filler.

Just curious

what type of problems did you guys have using traverfil.

Maybe I can help-traverfil can be a great tool for filing holes in large areas on honed travertine-

We make our own-cost is low-

We have virtually stopped using traverfill.  We use Tenax all the time now to fill holes.

Our experience with VMC traverfill has not been good. I did speak with Richard at VMC about issues and have followed directions and still had problems. Tenax has proven time and time again the way to go for us. Just my two cents.

Hey John,

You might want to check that out- I think that traverfil from VMC is just a latex modified portland cement.

They have a sanded and unsanded 25 lb pail.

They sell em for 136 bucks each.

Fill the hole with traver-fil from VMC,. This product is a powder that is
actually made to fill holes ion travertine. It will match the factory fills.
You add water and fill holes, allow to cure 24 hours and clean off any haze
left on the stone. fill the holes using a grout float. This is not grout.
Don't treat it like grout, only mix up what you can use in 5 minutes. It
cure quickly.
