They applied a paste with oxy powder and let it sit for a day. No change so it is definitely not tannin or any other organic type staining. Almost 100% sure it is internal rusting. This based on ruling out the obvious other possibilities.

I have had better results with 35% hydrogen peroxide. Use plain white paper towels 3 think and saturate the towels then pat down. Let sit overnight 18 to 24 hours. Make sure when you take off the poltice to soak the paper towels in water before disposing of them since if the come in contact with other chemical the can catch fire. If you have never used peroxide before I would contact John Frietag or Fred or email me back so you can take proper percautions. Note even if you remove the stains they may come back if there is continual moisture. Thanks, Bill SelikGourmet Stone CareSan DiegoOn Wednesday, May 31, 2017 3:42 PM, Stuart Rosen <mail@stoneshine.com> wrote:

Tested for tannin and it's not that. It is spreading. Has been exposed to water. Suspecting internal rusting. Told the guy I would get a second opinion.
