This is an interesting discussion, I thought slate was not a calcium based stone and could not etch. Are you sure it is not the calcification of hard water or excessive salt from conditioned water. How does it respond to a blue scrubbing pad?

I don't like it on marble and granite, but it color enhances slate without leaving an oily film. I have a way used the cream version. Not sure if the aerosol version is the same.
