Thanks everyone. To sort of reframe the discussions, I am really trying to get a grip on what the least, but effective and not misleading information i can send as an estimate. As I said, I tend to try to think of everything and wind up taking too much time writing up estimate.

Baird,

We use Quickbooks online, which gives the flexibility to access from desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone. You can create all of your different types of service offerings and prices, as well as product sales. You can create estimates, invoices, credit memos, sales receipts etc. QB also lets you create or download your customer database. Estimates and other documents can be emailed to your customers. Although you can create them on site, we prefer to complete them and email once per day, usually in the evening.

I didn't know quickbooks had a form. How does it work. My main problem with quickbooks is that we have it dedicated to the book keeper's computer, and I don't spend any time on it. Maybe we have to go to quickbooks on line, but that wasn't possible a few years ago. Will have to look into it again.

We use QuickBooks and include a general summary of each different type of work that will be provided. Estimates are not provided at the time of the visit, rather they are emailed later in the day.

Hi.  I was wondering what sort of form partners typically provide prospects as an estimate for work.  I tend to go overboard and write up a full proposal/contract or something just short of that.  But writing a customized contract is very time consuming for me and am trying to come to grips with the most efficient estimate and least time consuming estimate I can write for prospects while still covering all of the necessary bases.  Thanks
Baird
