We used to use palm sanders with progressively finer sand papers. We have sort of graduated to Festool Sanders attached to hepa filter vacuums, and use Sia diamond sand papers and fleeces. Sia also makes a good cream polish. We use the Festool Rotex to get started (an aggressive sander) and then go to the 150/3 sander for refining.
