SlateCovers a wide range of characteristics.While some slates can be porous many others are non porous(such as roofing quality slate) most likely a chemical company would be using soapstone or roofing quality slate.Once you see the surfaces you can determine the scopeOf the work

Sent from my iPhoneAlthough porous, slate is pretty much bulletproof. Alkaline cleaner, scrub, extract, dry, multiple coats of penetrating sealer. Done.
