I would try acetone and/or something stronger with methylene chloride on a small patch just to see if it takes it off. Also test an area with a grout saw very lightly to see if it cuts through the stuff. We just worked on 6 public hotel bathrooms and used a grout saw lightly over the grout lines to get  a coating off.  Worked fine without a lot of mess.
