We like our abrasives-my process might be a little different if I saw the floor in person.  I agree with Darek just to add we might start with 30 grit 5 seg hard metal bond diamonds wet.  
We would finish close to the same.

Is there any way to look at an edge, floor register, anything that would show you the edge of the tile?  It makes a huge difference if that is marble or ceramic.   Porcelain you could treat like the marble but the ceramic is a different story.
