Yeah it's decent but you're dealing with New York prices not Philly. But I am guessing it would be about a $1,500 job in Florida, LMAO I told them any replacement would be at an additional cost

They want the original floor refinished for some reason.

It's an ugly job and a pain to do so I priced it out at $4,250.00 at under 200 sq. ft. and they went for it.

I won't low bid jobs like this just to get some work. Low bidding always comes back to bite you in the butt somehow.

I figured 2 guys 3 days taking their time and a 4th day cushion. They should be able to complete in 2-3 days.

I will post before and after pictures and how long it took to complete so the newbies get some takeaway from a project like this.

Thank you everybody for your input, This is what makes STP so valuable to everybody.

Thank you

Marble is cheaper today than it was 75 years ago and appears to be nothing more than tumbled marble w/ ceramic.  Demo the tile, thin-set and carpet adhesive and go with new.  If you want to save a buck and the floor elevations aren’t an issue I would recommend a self leveler (Arden feather finish) to create a new smooth surface.

the picture shows not only glue but also thick layer of some sort cement leveler or mud base that's why i would go dry or you will have to deal with lots and lots of thick slurry, and the cement layer looks grainy and soft so it will clean the glue off diamonds without clogging.
Im suggesting this option assuming that you are equipped with vacuum system like Ermator or Pulse-Bac or similar.

We like our abrasives-my process might be a little different if I saw the floor in person.  I agree with Darek just to add we might start with 30 grit 5 seg hard metal bond diamonds wet.
We would finish close to the same.

nope, what you see is what you get. Some of the floor is exposed on top but nothing that would indicate what it is. I know how I'm going to handle it if they want to pay the price. LOL that's why I said let's have some fun with this

Is there any way to look at an edge, floor register, anything that would show you the edge of the tile?  It makes a huge difference if that is marble or ceramic.   Porcelain you could treat like the marble but the ceramic is a different story.

Let's have some fun with this, looking to see what some suggestions would be to restore this 200 square foot elevator Lobby 75 year old ceramic/marble tile coated with carpet glue and cement
