After years of custom marble installation before stepping in to restoration in the mid 90's, there are a lot of things to consider. If the travertine was butt set like most "tile setters" do in Florida ,it can be nearly impossible to remove old stones without spalling the edges of adjacent stones, meaning 30 stones can easily become 60. Also travertine is not always square or dementional so making new stones fit in old spaces can be challenging. Are you going to have to do some level of finish work to make stone match existing clarity ? I would cover my butt and I would be around 2500 to $3k in north central Florida
