Hi Dr.Fred,

One of the first things the customer told me is that her husband is not gonna let her remodel that bathroom so she can’t replace anything.
They spent too much already.

That’s right as I recall I remember one of your radio shows you talked about green marble installations and how you can’t use regular thin set with water. And here it is all of the master bathroom and shower.

I think we’re just going to make a few of the colors out of Epoxy sand it down diamond hone and polish it. She’s willing to pay to save it and I charge plenty for it.

Thanks Dr. Fred,
By the way, I’m a big fan of yours. Read all your books back when I first started.

Thank You

This is a common problem with certain serpentines.  They hate water.  It can be random as well. It could also be what the stone is set on. I would tear it out and replace it.

Hey pros,
does anyone know what causes spalling on green marble? The picture below is right outside the shower.
 Big chunks have popped out.
There are no problems with spalling on the shower floor serpentine tiles.

The tub face slab has a lot of spalling too,  but it’s outside and away from the shower.

What are you think?
