I agree with you guys -while I like these products, all these things have pro's and cons. As long as we are credible and inform our clients in writing -its their decision whether to buy or not.
The products are not the issue -really its the application and the stone-some stones can be harder to deal with than others.

I am all for all of these solutions. My general feeling is that, the more complicated things get with respect to the process, the more things can go wrong or at least not easily controlled. As an example, I am dealing with a guy who is sticking it to us about minor variations in terrazzo repair color after we painstakingly had terrazzo tiles made for him and we installed exactly what he approved among different options. Same goes for Clearstone, Concrete  dyes and finishes, terra cotta finishes, epoxy coatings and a number of other things I have spent considerable time and money to learn over the years. None of these things are perfect, but I am getting plenty tired of clients looking for perfection, whatever that is. I was ready to quit this afternoon but will probably be back on the job tomorrow.

If I remember correctly the Stoneguard is a little thicker and they claim to have more heat resistance. Tuff Skin is supposed to have an anti bacterial but the manufacturer does not recommend or market it as such anymore and they do very limited production runs. Tiff Skin also has a satin finish but it is in a striated pattern but looks okay. Harder to get. With both of these companies the gloss is way too high and looks artificial. There is a 3M product that apparently works well too. I worked with a company overseas for years on a film which is now good to go in three finishes, gloss, satin and semi gloss. It has a much harder finish and better adhesive.

We had to grind that one top that we discussed and are going back to apply the film again next week. Thanks again for your help! I still need to call Mario back, we have had quite a few techs out sick with the flu here in AZ and it has put us a bit behind, but I will call Mario before we go back out.

We use Stoneguard-we may switch to Tuff skin-they have wider rolls.

Besides that they are somewhat similar.

What are you looking to do -films and coatings or just films.

We do stoneguard and clearstone-

Has anyone had experience with the Stoneguard films? I'm familiar with Toughskin but not Stoneguard. One better than the other?
