The coating is thick, yellow and cracking. We were able to pull it off with little effort. The surface is textured. She is not sure what she wants done to it yet.

OH it has a coating on it...Can be tricky. Most likely a urethane coating. If they want it removed and it is failing you should be able to scrape it with a sharp razor. Once removed you can re polish. Of course the natural polish is going to look alot different than a coated surface. Make sure the customer is aware of that.
