I agree with Anthony. The sealer does not “breathe” enough to handle that kind of moisture. Should not have been sealed.

You may be experiencing this problem because of the Stone Dust underlay. The problem with this material is that it holds more water than your typical Concrete screening sand. Witch is a better choice of material for paver installation. Give it a few good drying days. You can help by setting up blowers.

Hope all works out

And where does the rain water go? Does it run off properly? 2” of rain within is quite a bit within less than 24 hours of sealing/impregnating, especially if the runoff situation is not optimal..

looks like moisture for sure. Check it with a moisture meter to be sure its not stains. I am not a big fan of sealing this type of installation since water can still wick up from underneath.  I would have just cleaned it and left it alone. Its also possible it may have still retained moisture. If this is the case sealing would slow down the drying process

Subject: Sealing issue

This is a granite from China Umbria and a black granite that’s laid on gravel base with stone dust underlay with sand lock joints, it’s flame finished. We cleaned on the first week  with a product called modern clean. Then the following week we sealed it using a roller so we could control the amount sealer put down. This was sealed with a product called preserve a silicone based sealer, which is sold as a breathable sealer. It was dry for at least three days before it was sealed. We sealed it on Thursday,  everything was fine. It rained on late Friday and Saturday .2 “ of rain. blotchy spots appeared on Monday when we showed up  to continue to work .  I cannot understand why it is doing this and it has not improved a lot since we noticed the blotchy spots 4 days ago. Originally I thought it had something to do with the rain. We noticed some areas not directly on the ground inside the building show no signs of this and any elevated caps and steps seem fine.   I am trying to resolve this and get it fixed , any help would be appreciated.  I am at fred@andlc.com
