Dark brown marble scratching easy at 800 grit

Hi all
We are trying to restore this bar top. It’s very soft and we go from 220 up to 800 and the 800’s are leaving swirl scratches. So we have to go back to 220. We’ve tried using many different kinds of diamonds and also DIPs. The DIPs are scratching worst.
The UFO seems too aggressive so we went to hand machines.
Does anybody have any tricks?
