RE: [sccpartners] Bruised stone John Freitag 25 Jun 2009 08:43 EDT
Lorne, The bruised stone that you are speaking of is actually crystal damage or more commonly known as stun marks. These marks can actually go almost completely through the stone and you can never tell how deep they are. You are correct there is nothing you can do to correct this. The extent of the damage depends upon how hard objects hit the stone, the hardness of the stone etc. Sometimes very light stun marks will can partially be removed during the honing process depending upon what grit you start at, but you will never totally remove this damage. When making your sales calls it a good practice to point this items out to your customer prior to starting the job rather than addressing the problem after or during the job. The education of the customer is very important when you indentify these problems during your sales call. John E. Open spaces but they had several pieces of very heavy coffee tables and stools that were metal bottoms. I was able to get the scratches out but the 'bruising' is still there. As far as I know nothing could be done about that, but I figured I would ask just in case. So does anyone know of a way to cover up the marks.
